does this role contribute to our collective success?As a member of
the AXIS actuarial reserving team, you will play a crucial role in
analyzing one of the company's largest and riskiest liabilities:
casualty loss reserves. You will be exposed to a wide variety of
insurance products and actuarial reserving techniques. Your
expertise will enhance our team's ability to leverage individual
claim and policy data, implementing advanced actuarial methods to
swiftly identify and respond to changing market dynamics.What will
you do in this role?Quarterly Reserving
- You conduct comprehensive quarterly reserving analyses for the
Casualty segment. You develop and maintain models to project
ultimate losses and present findings to management.
- You engage in ad-hoc reserve and profitability studies on
specific lines of business. Analyze underwriting and claim trends,
shifts in business mix, changes in limits or retentions, and
examine loss development patterns.
- You support the selection of plan loss ratios by evaluating
historical experience, loss trend and rate change, working closely
with pricing actuaries and underwriting teamsClaims Analytics
- You utilize individual claim and policy data to provide
insights into the performance of insurance business and drivers of
loss development and claims trends.
- You implement advanced reserving techniques to quickly respond
to changing loss inflation, portfolio characteristics, and claims
adjusting practices.Finance/Corporate Support
- You provide support for quarterly reserving to the corporate
actuarial group. Respond quickly to data requests and comment on
factors influencing casualty results such as large losses, updated
reserving assumptions, or changes in the underlying portfolio.
- You assist in analyzing quarterly results and provide detailed
accident and calendar year analysis and commentary for internal and
external clients.Important Working Relationships
- This role involves frequent interaction with all departments of
the company (Finance, Underwriting, Insurance, Reinsurance, Claims,
ILS, etc.). You should enjoy working as part of a team and be able
to collaborate with a diverse group of personalities.You may also
be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and
activities appropriate to the nature of this role.About You:We
encourage you to bring your own experience and expertise to the

need you to have, we are open to discussing how your individual
knowledge might lend itself to fulfilling this role and help us
achieve our goals.What you need to have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Risk
Management, or a similar field demonstrating an affinity and talent
for quantitative analysis.
- Experience in the Property & Casualty actuarial field
- Progress towards qualification in the Casualty Actuarial
Society
- Excellent PC skills, especially with Microsoft Excel using
lookups and pivot tables
- Experience performing actuarial or analytical work in R or
Python
- Experience working with individual claim and policy-level
data
- Exposure to machine learning techniques, including but not
limited to generalized linear models
- Familiarity with data analysis using SQL, Tableau, and/or
PowerBI to extract and summarize data
- Ability to take high level direction and independently work on
projects
- Ability to understand an analysis and present it in an
accessible way to a non-technical audienceWhat we prefer you to
have:
- Exposure to commercial general liability, commercial auto
liability, and reinsurance
- Experience with ResQ reserving software
- Exposure to VBA programmingRole Factors:Follow the corporate
and team guidance on in-office attendance. Our group currently
targets 2-3 days per week on average.What we offer:For this
position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range
of $140k to $175k (NY), $125k-$160k (IL), $115k to $145k (GA). Your
salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors
including your specific experience and work location.In addition,
you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with
awards based on overall corporate and individual performance. On
top of this, you will be eligible for a comprehensive and
