What: Support the Corporate Controller across technical accounting, ASC 944 insurance accounting, reinsurance, financial reporting, and internal controls. Where: Hybrid work model (Fridays remote). Job Summary A national insurance organization is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller (CPA) to partner closely with the Corporate Controller on technical accounting, reinsurance accounting, and financial reporting. This role requires strong expertise in US GAAP, particularly ASC 944 (Insurance Accounting), and offers broad ownership, leadership visibility, and exposure to complex insurance transactions. Ideal for a Big 4 or national firm Senior/Manager with insurance clients or an experienced insurance accounting leader seeking expanded responsibility. Key Responsibilities Lead technical accounting research and application under US GAAP (ASC 944). Support reinsurance, warranty, and insurance accounting activities. Assist with monthly financial reporting packages and disclosures. Support and help manage the financial close process. Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures. Strengthen and monitor internal controls. Coordinate with tax teams and external auditors. Partner with the Corporate Controller on complex accounting matters. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Active CPA license (verifiable). 4 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong US GAAP technical accounting expertise. Experience in insurance, reinsurance, or warranty accounting. Preferred Backgrounds: Big 4 or National Firm Audit/Advisory Senior or Manager with insurance clients. Insurance, reinsurance, or warranty industry Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or technical Senior Accountant.
