This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, a friendly and outgoing personality, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced healthcare environment. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: The Essential Job Responsibilities include: Answering a multi-line phone system and handling patient calls Scheduling and confirming patient appointments Completing the new patient registration process, in person, via mail, electronically or directing patient to com/patient-resources Create and update Patient Accounts in EMR, including demographic and insurance information. Greeting patients/checking-in and checking-out patients Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits with health plans Obtaining referrals, precertification/pre -authorizations, as required Collecting co-payments, coinsurances, deductibles, balances, etc at or prior to service Scanning and sorting medical records in appropriate location in EMR Documenting in EMR, including management of tasks module Managing fax inbox(es), both in EHR and standard fax Communicating and collaborating with other health team members Cross-training with other team-members, based on practice needs Posting charges and payments in EMR Completing and submitting accurate End-of-Day reconciliation utilizing EMR Timely completion of all compliance training and testing Other administrative duties assigned based on practice needs Responsibilities related to company mission, culture and engagement: Actively participate in achieving the company's Mission to optimize the health of our patients and community by providing compassionate, state of the art care to adults and children with digestive disorders and diseases Adhere to the company's Code of Conduct, to conduct business with honesty, integrity, and in an appropriate manner, while maintaining and complying with relevant state and federal statutes, regulations and guidelines Consistently work on ways to engage our patients, improve their care experience and maintain strong relationships with referring physician offices and other referral sources. Create an environment of trust and maintain healthy working relationships Ability to adapt to changing healthcare environment and lead by example Exemplify a "can do" attitude and commitment to excellence Qualifications & Certifications: 1-2 years of medical office experience Excellent typing and documentation skills Excellent computer skills and experience with MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook Exceptional customer service and communication skills, verbal and written Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Mental/Physical Requirements: Ability to work well under pressure with diverse groups of professionals and physicians Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment May require working under stressful conditions and irregular hours May require working with frequent interruptions Work may involve prolonged periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, reaching and the ability to push or pull items weighing 30 pounds or less Must be able to work at both locations: Cumming and Alpharetta.
