Job Description Job Description THIS POSITION IS WORKING WITH
THE 1 YEAR OLD STUDENTS. OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION: The position is
responsible for providing a safe, caring, and enriching environment
for the children enrolled in the St. Benedict’s Preschool Infant –
4’s After School (Stingers Squad) program or the summer camp
program. RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure a warm, caring, and stimulating
environment for children enrolled in the before/after school
program in an effort to create a positive and enriching
before/after school experience. Provide engaging interactions with
children at all times. Keep the head count of children at all times
inside the classroom and at the playground making sure the children
are safe at all times. Assist children with daily care activities
(i.e. washing children’s hands, diapering, pottying, meals, etc.).
In the infant room, associates are responsible for ensuring the
infant’s individualized schedules are adhered to and are
responsible for bottle feeding the infants and putting them down
for naps during the before and after school program. Develop a
positive relationship with each child and promote the development
of self-esteem and self-discipline. Maintain a respectful
environment with children, parents, and staff at school at all
times. Supervise and engage with children on playground areas.
Follow cleaning and sanitation procedures. Administer first aid
(Band-Aid, ice packs, etc.) and document accidents. Arrive in
classroom at least 5 minutes before scheduled start time. For
school year employee, attend certain school functions as required
by the administration (ie. Open House, staff meetings, trainings,
etc.). Support the school with words and actions on and off campus.
Maintain confidentiality in school matters and in regard to
students, their families, and coworkers. Demonstrate patience when
interacting with children, parents, and coworkers. Understand an
infant, toddler, and preschooler’s social/emotional, cognitive,
physical, and spiritual developmental needs. Document and report
any moderate and major behavioral incidents and/or injuries to
Director of Preschool Auxiliary Programs using Accident and
Incident reports. Please allow only Director of Preschool Auxiliary
Programs or Preschool Director to communicate with parents on
incidents. For school year employees, support After Care Lead with
daily communication with parents through Kambu, making sure daily
routines and special notes are properly documented in the Tadpoles
app. Consistently monitor and supervise children under the care of
the After School and Summer Camp programs, maintaining “line of
sight” with any children located both inside and outside of
designated areas. Assist After Care or Summer Camp Lead in
conducting all student activities (arts and crafts projects,
indoor/outdoor games, teacher directed games, etc). Participate in
creating and leading various student activities. Actively
participate in daily sign-in/out processes and dismissal/carpool
procedures. Assist in maintaining a clean environment which
includes janitorial duties necessary to maintain the cleanliness of
the school facility inside and outside of designated areas. Adhere
to the policies as stated in the St. Benedict’s Employee Handbook,
Preschool Infant - 2s Employee Handbook, Auxiliary Programs
policies and procedures, and policies outlined in subsequent St.
Benedict’s training and meetings. Maintain confidentiality of
student and school matters. Model appropriate behavior in speech
and actions Model professional and ethical standards and practices
consistent with school policies when dealing with students,
parents, peers in both speech and actions. Be evaluated throughout
the year through informal and formal observation. Participate in
training and professional development; goal setting with supervisor
Show support and high esteem for School at all times. Attend and
participate in staff meetings and other assigned meetings and
activities according to school policy. Comply with conditions as
stated in employee agreement and handbook. Commitment to St.

duties as assigned by Director of Preschool Auxiliary Programs or
Head of Auxiliary Programs. QUALIFICATIONS: High School degree or
GED equivalent preferred Previous childcare experience required.
First Aid and CPR certification, preferred. Training will be
required through St. Benedict’s if not certification exists.
Ability to effectively communicate with children age three months
through age 3. Ability to implement age appropriate, enriching
activities. The ability to help create a harmonious environment by
working well on a small team and with other staff. Excellent
listening, strong problem-solving, interpersonal, verbal/written
communication skills. Strong organizational and time management
skills. Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Communicate effectively and respectfully both orally and in
writing. Reliable and dependable. Ability to work a flexible
schedule to meet program staffing and planning needs. Exercise
mature judgment and sound decision making and practice extreme
professionalism. Must work well individually and as part of a small
team ; ability to interact collaboratively with parents, students
and administration. Passionate about working with and inspiring
students. Superior time management skills and the ability to
consistently meet deadlines and be flexible Learn, follow, and
enforce St. Benedict’s guidelines related to internal policies.
Adhere to legal requirements and regulations maintaining
confidentiality and utilizing discretion. Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those
that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the
essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be

sitting and standing. Employee should be able to lift and hold up
to 50 lbs. Employee should be able to squat to a child’s height and
maintain eye contact at a child’s level. Employee should be able to
bend and reach from floor to waist several times throughout the
day. Employee should be able to crawl around on the floor and
interact with children in their space. Employee should be able to
do lifting and walking as needed. Ability to sit or stand
continuously for up to 5 hours. Employee should be able to go
outside with the children, welcome parents at the gate (Morning
drop-off and Afternoon pick-up) in various types of weather (heat,
cold and rain). The employee is continuously involved with
supervising and interacting with students including, but not
limited to, transitioning from location to location, drop off and
pickup responsibilities, and lunch. Work Environment: The work

in the work environment is usually moderate. Monday - Friday of
school days, 12:30pm - 4:45pm
