We are seeking a VP of Compliance/BSA. This position is responsible for managing the compliance program with regard to all state and federal law as and regulations covering consumer compliance. Reviews and appraises the soundness, effectiveness, and proper application of regulations. Oversees the filing of reports with government agencies as directed by law. Provides guidance in the preparation of required disclosures for new and existing products and services. This position has authority to assess procedures to see if they are in compliance with regulations and make recommendations for correction as needed. Oversees independent reviews of compliance related matters and ensures that findings are appropriately addressed. Serves as liaison for all external audit and regulatory agencies related to compliance. Responsibilities: Participates in setting the strategic direction of the Credit Union with area leadership, particularly regarding BSA/compliance matters.Oversees the annual risk-based plan for compliance. Maintains a schedule for cursory examination of all compliance requisites and looks for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, timeliness of response to compliance issues or lack of compliance with laws, regulations and management policies or procedures. Reviews and approves risk assessment for accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness.Develops, maintains, and monitors policies, procedures and internal controls as related to the BSA Compliance and overall compliance review and management procedures.Assists the company in understanding and addressing all applicable laws and regulations. Acts as a compliance consultant to the Credit Union executive management and leadership teams.Provides guidance regarding required disclosures for new and existing products and services. Resolves inquiries and issues related to BSA/compliance matters; participates in various internal committees as assigned.Evaluates audits ensuring adherence with Credit Union policies, regulations, financial controls, and financial industry standards. Monitors various compliance surveillance and exception reports. Identifies potentially suspicious activity and accurately documents steps taken through the investigation process.Collaborates with appropriate department leaders to develop and update BSA/AML/OFAC training materials and forms for the company.Provides leadership to Compliance/BSA personnel through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication. Conducts staff meetings as required. Ensures that team members are well trained, effective, and optimally used. Provides regular training as needed regarding policy, procedures, and program changes.Conducts performance appraisals as required. Implements corrective actions as needed.Keeps Management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.Completes and submits required reports, records, and related documents. Prepares Compliance/BSA status reports for the Audit Committee meetings.Attends the Audit Committee and other meetings as required.Serves as liaison for all external audit and regulatory agencies for Compliance/BSA related topics.Ensures that the Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained both internally and externally. Ensures that appropriate levels of security and confidentiality are maintained. Acts as a representative of the Credit Union in contact with business and trade associations and external auditors. Promotes the Credit Union's interests. Stays informed of changing regulations, policies, and industry trends.Promotes and establishes strong, positive and productive working relationships within the organization through commitment to the company's purpose and vision statement and core values. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related degree. Master's degree or higher education preferred.CUNA or CRC certification preferred. Other industry certifications desirable.10+ years of similar or related experience in a financial institution.5+ years supervisory experience.Expert level understanding and knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act and AML Regulations, USA Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets and Control and/or local regulations or consumer fraud issues.Computer proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Internet, and Email.
