Grady Health seeks an innovative, enterprising, and distinguished
physician executive to serve as its next Senior Vice President,
Chief Quality Officer (CQO). This position offers a collaborative
and dynamic physician leader the opportunity to join one of the
largest safety net academic health systems in the United States
developing and leading strategic programs and initiatives focused
on quality, safety, and performance improvement. Grady is driven by
a keen focus on the delivery of high quality, safe and
cost-effective care for the betterment of the Atlanta community in
conjunction with an outstanding academic environment. The CQO will
strive to advance a culture of clinical excellence and high
reliability across the care continuum, guiding Grady to consistent
standards of care delivery.
Grady is a $2.4 billion health system that includes the 953-bed
Grady Memorial Hospital and eight neighborhood health centers. With
its nationally acclaimed Emergency Care Center, Marcus Stroke and
Neuroscience Center and Burn Unit, Grady Health System has the only
Level I Trauma Center in Metro Atlanta and serves as the ambulance
provider for the city of Atlanta. The state's only Poison Center is
housed at Grady as well. The Diabetes Detection & Control Center,
Georgia Cancer Center for Excellence, Comprehensive Sickle Cell
Center, and Avon Foundation Comprehensive Breast Center are also
notable components of the health system. Moreover, Grady's
Infectious Disease Program was named one of the top three HIV/AIDS
outpatient clinics in the country. Grady is also a major teaching
institution (the largest in the State of Georgia) and is staffed by
physicians from both Emory University School of Medicine (Emory)
and the Morehouse School of Medicine (Morehouse).
Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, the CQO will be
responsible for setting a vision, strategy, and organizational
structure for quality and safety across the enterprise. This leader
will drive performance improvement informed by evidence-based care
to fulfill Grady's mission and obligation to its patients and the
community. The CQO will work across Grady's clinical departments
and service lines to enhance integration and ensure alignment with
Grady's quality and safety priorities. The CQO will also be
responsible for fostering collaborative relationships with Emory
and Morehouse to strengthen communication, identify opportunities
for greater alignment, and improve patient outcomes. The CQO will
partner with Emory and Morehouse department chairs, along with
clinical and administrative leaders across Grady to spearhead
innovative, strategic, and effective safety programs across all
modalities of care. They will be a champion for a data-driven
approach to advance Grady to be a national leader in quality and
safety.
The successful candidate will be a physician leader with a proven
record of accomplishment in driving quality, safety, and
performance improvement within a high-performing teaching hospital.
The CQO will be a visible, transparent, clinically credible, and
decisive leader who is able to foster relationships, inspire
others, and collaborate across the organization. The candidate must
have thorough knowledge of process improvement, publicly reported
data, lean methodologies, high reliability methods, change
management, and dedication to utilize data to drive system
improvements through process and technology. An M.D./D.O. degree is
required and completion of a postgraduate medical education in an
ACGME-accredited residency program with current Board Certification
in their specialty. The CQO will be expected to maintain a limited
clinical practice.
