Radiography Certifications: Basic Life Support Must-Have: Excellent
communication skills, ability to function independently, strong
customer service skills Description: Must be flexible with work
hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable,
and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care
to patients by performing exams according to departmental
procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to obtain quality
diagnostic studies safely. Responsible for performing various
technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and
initiative utilizing equipment for diagnosis and/or treatment of
diseases. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up
equipment to provide imaging services and positions patients for
procedures. Works with students during their clinical rotation.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Patient Care Obtains
complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and assesses
contraindicating conditions. Follows established procedures for the
administration of contrast media to prevent patient condition
deterioration. Ensures all studies have proper patient
identification and that right and left markers are utilized
appropriately. Reviews radiographic images for clinically
acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency
situations and maintains life support equipment. Assists other
technologists in various modalities as needed. Observes patient
condition and evaluates situations for necessary physician
intervention to prevent patient condition deterioration. Verifies
two unique patient identifiers and correct clinical order prior to
performing procedures. Ensures patient privacy and comfort is
accommodated. Demonstrates competence in determining and applying
appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies, and techniques based
on patient age. Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to
accomplish required activities within designated time frames. Uses
critical thinking skills. Asks clarifying questions and seeks
clarification on ambiguous orders. Understands, demonstrates, and
documents pre-procedural verification and Time Out process when
appropriate. Demonstrates and understands pre-and-post procedural
care. Preps the patient for procedures. Demonstrates and
understands sterile technique. Maintains competency with
venipuncture where applicable. Equipment Demonstrates ability to
adjust technique to minimize ionizing radiation while maintaining
image quality. Reports problems regarding malfunctioning equipment
to the supervisor for timely corrections. Cleans, disinfects, and
maintains equipment per infection control policy and departmental
schedule. Operates all aspects of the system and radiographic
equipment safely and competently. Education and Communication
Explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients clearly,
minimizing anxiety and facilitating cooperation. Addresses patient
questions, concerns, or contraindications satisfactorily and
notifies physicians if issues cannot be resolved. Participates in
training of departmental employees. Provides preparatory
instruction to patients about procedures. Ensures documentation is
concise, legible, and includes precise terminology. Reads emails
each day scheduled to work and follows through with assignments.
Completes mandatory departmental and organizational education
without prompting. Quality Control Produces high-quality images
including appropriate collimation, shielding, technique selection,
and positioning. Ensures equipment is fully operational by checking
calibration and operating deficiencies before each use. Sends all
studies to PACS and prints CDs as necessary. Completes all exams in
RIS with accurate marking, labeling, and notes. Checks for prior
exams and ensures proper labeling before sending to PACS.
Operations Restocks linens and supplies, maintaining a clean and
orderly environment. Transports and positions patients, assisting
them on and off procedure tables. Performs patient charging
activities on the day services are rendered. Applies shielding and
immobilization devices as needed. Assists others as requested,
ensuring all working time is effectively used for departmental
advantage. Performs routine clerical and support duties when
warranted to ensure continuity and quality of services. Keeps
supervisor informed of ongoing responsibilities and promptly
notifies of any problems. Maintains individual productivity equal
to co-workers. Maintains compliance with all regulatory standards.
Transfers and retrieves images on the PACS system. Takes call when
necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Required
