Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Less than 1 year preferred License: RN License (Single State or Multi-state Compact) Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: Heparin IV administration experience Description: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The practice is supported through the Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is guided by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards. As a member of the patient services team, individuals uphold the voice of the patient and support service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The RN performs the Nursing Process in clinical care using evidence-based practice. They use analytical and critical thinking to ensure care is individualized. They coordinate care through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to optimal patient outcomes. Relationship-based patient-centered care is provided, adapting service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity. Patients and significant others are partnered with to keep them updated and make their goals the focus of the plan of care. Current clinical practice standards are observed in all interactions. The RN coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care. They promote diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods. Teamwork and collaboration are demonstrated through fiscally responsible practices. Participation in performance improvement activities is expected. They actively support and participate in shared governance at all levels. Professional development is addressed through ongoing competency assessments and education. The RN serves as a preceptor and mentor for other professional nurses and students across disciplines. Evidence-based practice and nursing research are promoted in nursing care. They uphold all organizational policies and clinical competencies. Participation in data collection and evidence-based practice consultations is required. Active support of efficient and effective use of resources is essential. The RN proactively plans for the care of patients across the care continuum. They participate in the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and other team members. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Required Minimum Education: Associate's Degree in nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing school is required. Bachelor's Degree in nursing is preferred. Required Minimum Skills: Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer skills are required to support clinical care. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills are essential. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies is critical.
