CT Tech Profession: CT Tech Specialty: Imaging Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year
experience in Radiology required. Less than 1 year experience in CT
preferred. License: ARRT Radiography, ARRT Computed Tomography
Certifications: Basic Life Support or equivalent Must-Have:
Excellent communication skills. Ability to function independently
and as part of a team. Detail-oriented with the capacity to
multitask. Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet
department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative.
Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by
performing all exams according to department procedures. Has the
knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality
diagnostic study. Responsible for performing a wide variety of
technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and
initiative in utilizing equipment for the diagnosis and/or
treatment of diseases. Able to independently perform job functions.
Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions
patients for the procedure. Verifies proper clinician order for the
procedure. Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination
data, and assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows
established procedures for the administration of contrast media to
ensure patient safety. Ensures that all studies have proper patient
identification and that appropriate markers are utilized. Reviews
CT/radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and
releases patients. Responds to emergency situations and ensures
proper maintenance of life support equipment. Assists other
technologists in all modalities when needed. Observes patient
conditions and evaluates situations when physician intervention is
necessary. Verifies correct identity of patients using two unique
identifiers prior to performing procedures. Ensures patient privacy
and comfort are accommodated. Maintains patients' dignity
throughout exams/procedures. Demonstrates competence in determining
and applying appropriate procedures based on patient age. Organizes
schedule and priorities to accomplish required activities within
designated time frames. Follows physician instructions when
assisting with procedures and exams. Demonstrates proficiency with
loading and operating power injection. Utilizes critical thinking
skills and effectively communicates with patients and families.
Asks clarifying questions when needed and seeks clarification on
ambiguous orders. Demonstrates an understanding of pre-procedural
verification and Time Out processes when appropriate. Preps the
patient for procedures and demonstrates understanding of sterile
techniques. Maintains competency with venipuncture. Adjusts
techniques to minimize patient exposure to ionizing radiation while
maintaining image quality. Reports equipment malfunctions to the
supervisor in a timely manner. Cleans and disinfects equipment per
infection control policies. Explains purposes and nature of exams
to patients clearly to minimize anxiety. Ensures patient's
questions and concerns are satisfactorily addressed. Participates
in the orientation and training of departmental employees. Provides
preparatory instructions and explanations of procedures to
patients. Ensures documentation is concise, legible, and utilizes
precise terminology. Completes mandatory departmental and education
requirements without prompting. Produces consistently acceptable
images as evidenced by feedback and audits. Ensures equipment is
operational prior to each use by checking for proper calibration.
Sends all studies to the appropriate storage system immediately
after completion. Completes all studies in the reporting system
before finalizing them in the storage system. Restocks linens and
supplies, maintaining a clean department condition. Transports and
positions patients, assisting them on and off procedure tables.
Performs patient charging activities on the day of service. Applies
necessary devices and equipment for patient safety. Assists
colleagues and performs clerical duties when needed to ensure
continuity of services. Keeps supervisors informed on
responsibilities and promptly notifies of any issues. Maintains
productivity rates comparable to others in the department. Operates
all workstations associated with the department effectively.
Maintains compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all policies,
