To implement the sourcing strategy for the local categories in line with the overall BI sourcing strategy to constantly increase productivity, optimize the external global spend, and reduce costs.



Develop local strategy for decentralized categories according to the centrally stipulated Target Operating Model (TOM).

Duties & Responsibilities\:


  • Implement complex Category Strategy following TOM and develop it for de-centralized model (incl. Complex and/or high spend negotiation) and inform accordingly local BPs.

  • Bring potential innovation to BI and local market intelligence.

  • Identify, evaluate and classify sourcing risks and devise risk mitigation measures.

  • Manage risk exposure.

  • Identify and evaluate existing and potential local suppliers as well as the establishment and maintenance of supplier relations.

  • Introduce innovation from external marketplace.

  • Use Business Review Meeting and KPI leverage to resolve potential issues at an early stage.

  • Feedback to (Senior) Category Manager as needed.

  • Manage local Business Partners actively and collaborate in order to align common goals.

  • Coordinate Business Partner Demands within Sourcing and ensure that relevant information is shared and Business Partner is supported adequately.

  • Optimize buying channels and leverage market opportunities.

  • Leverage sourcing tools (including e- or reverse-auction, parallel negotiation, etc.)

  • Maximize usage of Master Services Agreements (MSAs) or Frame Services Agreements (FSAs) as possible.

  • Potentially lead and drive Regional Sourcing projects potentially.




  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required with a focus in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or associated area preferred. Master’s degree from an accredited institution preferred. 
  • Four to seven (4-7) years of experience in category management
  • Pharmaceutical industry knowledge strongly preferred
  • Category knowledge of Clinical and Non-Clinical Development strongly preferred
  • Category knowledge External Services and Business Process Outsourcing preferred
  • Local Market Expertise
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated efficiency in the following\:  Demand management; Market and supplier analysis; Negotiation and Contract Management; Total cost of ownership, saving, and NPV; Project management; Delivering against commitments
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with internal and external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timeline.
  • Strong project management skills, ability to influence and bring teams to consensus and agreement

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

Must be 18 years of age or older
