Description:
The Manufacturing Engineer ( Preferred Industrial Engineer/
Mechanical Engineer ) will ensure successful completion of projects
to develop and implement value added processes, production methods,
and standards including supporting documentation, training, and
work instructions for new and existing products, equipment, and
layouts.
Perform work as assigned and take initiative to assess production,
facility, and project needs. Report on project status and progress
including recommendations of feasibility and required capital
expenditures.
Duties include but not limited to: assess and implement/improve
lean manufacturing systems including consideration for Safety,
Ergonomics, Quality, and Poka Yoke, develop/improve balanced work
cell layouts, kanban systems, focus on 1 Piece Flow and FIFO
handling/shipping, investigate and provide cost justification, CAD
preparation of layouts, tooling, and product requirements. Initiate
investigations for possible equipment, layout, and process
alternatives. Analyze new methods for optimizing labor and material
costs.
Develop justification for new/used equipment based on monetary
savings/ ROI, capacity, future expansion, quality, and safety.
Investigate and coordinate implementation of project solutions for
improvement with pertinent personnel including management and staff
in maintenance, production, scheduling, shipping/receiving, sales,
accounting, purchasing, HR, IT, and other engineers in
manufacturing, quality, and development. Travel Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:
3 - 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience
Highly Self Motivated, Results, and Deliverables oriented. Can work
independently with little direction. Excellent Time Management,
Communication, and Leadership Skills. Comfortable leading and
coordinating cross functional teams and working with external
suppliers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts
such as engineering economics, probability and statistical
inference, statistical process control, and fundamentals of plane
and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such
as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical
situations. Proficiency with spreadsheets a must.
LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and
interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures/drawings, and governmental regulations.
Ability to write and produce reports, business correspondence and
procedure manuals/ work instructions including photography and
graphics Ability to effectively present information and respond to
questions from groups of managers, peers, and internal customers
through use of note taking, PowerPoint, spreadsheet reports,
photography, graphics and other means.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data,
establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret
an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or
diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Must be able to read part and assembly diagrams/blueprints and be
proficient in AutoCAD. Familiarity with Computer Aided
Drafting/Design for manufacturability to include tooling and
equipment requirements, quality concerns, and costs estimates, is
required. Should be able to perform make vs. buy analysis of
materials and processes.
Ideal Qualifications:
MS Access Database Design, VBA / MACRO Programming, & AutoCAD 2D/3D
Proficiency
Lean/ Six Sigma Training or Strong Interest/Aptitude
ASQ Membership/ Certifications
Bachelors degree - Industrial / Mechanical/ Electrical
