Overview:Location: Norcross, GA
The Operations Supervisor oversee the day-to-day operations of the
Fix Routes and Paratransit Services. Assists the Operations Manager
and the Director of Operations in implementing departmental
policies and procedures while ensuring maximum reliability and
efficiency of run and route coverage. Ensures compliance of the
instituted labor contract (CBA) and works with the Georgia
Department of Transportation (GADOT) on various aspects of customer
service and contractual terms; maintains system performance and
assists with system planning; identifies potential issues by way of
analyzing various reports and also through field observation.
Authority and Supervision of Others: Span of control consists of
supervising the bus operators; responsible for oversight of
Dispatch/Radio and Scheduling in the absence of the Lead
Supervisor; has extensive autonomy, discretion and independent
judgement to decide when and how work is done by others.

Essential Job Functions:
- Provides both direct and indirect supervision to operations
staff
- Investigates makes and administers decisions up to and
including recommendations for terminations for those positions
directly supervised.
- Investigates and determines liability and corresponding
disciplinary action decisions up to and including recommendations
for terminations for those positions directly supervised
- Works closely with Maintenance, Dispatch and Operations to
ensure high service levels while maintaining Transdev safety
standards.
- Evaluates daily performance indicators and makes adjustments to
operations in order to best ensure productivity
- Assists Assistant Operations Manager with completing
performance evaluations for all Bus Operators
- Verifies overtime / driving time
- Supervises and monitors pre, relief and post trip inspections
and to ensure Federal, state and company compliance applicable
rules and regulations by Bus Operators
- Assists in investigates and reviews accident/incident
reports
- Enforces interpretation of labor contract and conducts informal
hearings
- Assists in facilitating Bus Operator, Safety and Customer
Services Training
- Assist in bus retraining and familiarization for new and
current drivers
- Assist in training on new technologies for operators/supervisor
/dispatchers.
- Supervises all direct reports during assigned shift while
coordinating their efforts to ensure outstanding service levels are
achieved and contract compliance is maintained.
- Assist in route analyzes, review and document route performance
and provide reports with finding and recommendations for route
improvements (OTP, Bus stop/Bus Zone relocation, short/long term
detours)
- Prepares a variety of reports, evaluations, and performs a
variety of written work and activities related to the
operation

Directs, monitors and maintains system performance
- Plans daily operations by coordinating subordinate
activities
- Monitors work and overtime schedules to ensure route
coverage
- Monitors routes by reviewing daily schedule adherence and on
time performance (OTP)
- Reviews and monitors detours, construction problems and road
closures
- Monitors a two-way radio and responds to problems and
emergencies
- Coordinates employee meetings with the management group
- Maintains a professional and courteous relationship with all
police and emergency personnel when dealing with all
accident/incident and emergency situations
- Works well with fellow supervisors / dispatch, GADOT and all
personnel of Transdev
Tracks and analyses data for various reports
- Analyses trends in overtime, absenteeism, route on time
performance, customer complaints throughout the operational area in
the Transportation Department
- Develops reports on a weekly, monthly and as-needed basis
- Maintains and updates DSP, DVIR inventory log, Equipment log,
Rollout and various databases
Performs tasks and completes projects as assigned
- Performs various functions as requested by the Operations
Manager and/or Director of Operations
- Provides coverage in the dispatch office and over the radio
coverage
- Provides coverage for the Scheduling personal
- Provides coverage for the Lead Supervisors
- Performs other duties as requiredQualifications:Essential
Knowledge and Skills:
- Two (2) or more years of progressive experience in transit
operations required
- Must have a Class B or higher commercial drivers license with
air brakes and passenger endorsement.
- Three (3) or more years' responsible supervisory experience
required (this supervisory experience may be part of the three
years' transit experience requirement or may be in addition to
transit experience if supervisory experience is outside of
transit)
- Two-year certificate in operations management, business
management or other related field preferred or an amount of job
experience equivalent to a two-year degree preferred
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have the ability to prioritize, remember details, use
experienced judgment, solve problems and be self directed
- Must possess strong organizational and communications
skills
- Must be able to write clearly in a concise, correct manner and
must be computer / tablet literate in word processing, excel, data
base software and able to learn how to use other software (such as
VDS, CLEVER, Mobil-view, TRAPEZE, GPS Mapping systems)
- Must have an in-depth knowledge of transportation systems
- Must be able to interpret and administrate contracts
- Must have a thorough knowledge of Gwinnett and vicinity or the
ability to learn
- Must be able to operate a bus/shuttle/support vehicle and a
radio/dispatch system
- Must be able to handle crisis situations well
- Strong and competent communicator
- Demonstrated effective leadership capabilities
- Confident and self-motivated
- Comfortable taking and accepting responsibility
- Able to delegate and work under intensive time pressures
- Must be able to take a leadership role in solving problems and
assisting the Operations Manager and Director of Operations in
fulfilling Departmental plans
- Must have the ability to objectively investigate reports
concerning operator related problems
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical
examination including a drug test and criminal/employment
background check
Tools, Equipment and Vehicles Used:Computer, printer, two-way
radio, telephone, cell-phone, digital camera, measuring wheel, fax,
automobile, Bus, Van, Car, lap top computer, Electronic Tablet
Unique Working Conditions:Work primarily conducted outside in any
type of weather.
Candidate shall possess working knowledge of the transportation
requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (as
amended) and other related legislation and regulations. Experience
working with the elderly and disabled a must.
Work Environment: Ninety-five percent (95%) of the work performed
in the capacity of this position may be outdoors. Lifting is
required and never any more than twenty-five (25) pounds. The
remaining five percent (5%) level of work may be performed off-site
but never in unsafe or hazardous surroundings. The office is
environmentally friendly and neither smoking nor artificial scents
are permitted in the work environment.
Work Schedule: Position is full-time; work schedule may include
nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays. Must be flexible
and able to work non-traditional business days and hours
