Job Summary
Perform training and facility inspection for compliance with
policy, procedures, regulations and standards to provide safety of
students, faculty and staff. Assist in injury investigations and
hazard assessments. This position will interact on a consistent
basis with: employees in EHS and Facilities. This position will
typically advise and counsel: faculty, staff and students. This
position will supervise: None.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Conduct training in all safety topics; assist in the development of
training content.
Job Duty 2 -
Perform routine inspections according to set schedule or upon
request of university facilities, for compliance with physical
safety standards; report to management any non-compliance or
hazardous conditions.
Job Duty 3 -
Participate in the development of policies and procedures to
prevent accidents.
Job Duty 4 -
Investigate accidents and injuries.
Job Duty 5 -
Participate in Job Safety Analysis, Risk and Ergonomic
Assessments.
Job Duty 6 -
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Safety or related field or
equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Two years of job related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
ASP or CSP Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or ASP preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
SKILLS
knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations; must have
knowledge in machine shop and crane safety, working at heights
safety, lock-out tag-out, confined space, trenching, ergonomics and
other general industry standards
